Silent Movies

We were at the movies this afternoon. The whole gang. Believe it or not, we had a marvelous time, us ranging from three to thirty-nine years young.
This is taking into consideration that the movies were completely devoid of special cinematographic or computer-generated effects. As a matter of fact, Buster Keaton's Cops and Sherlock Jr were from the classic silent era. Instead, there was a one-man, Chris Maric, live band accompaniment. I think he was managing some eleven instruments. I am not sure if he managed them with elaborate technology or if he was a Woodie Guthrie or Bob Dylan kind of multi-tasking guy.

The shows were hilarious. Buster Keaton was amazing in his comedic prowess as well as his execution of stunts. It is refreshing to see real unadulterated acting in family friendly movies for a change. Next time you see a silent movie playing in the theater, don't shy away!
